  • Sony ICX825AL ExView 2 Monochrome CCD
  • Low noise high sensitivity (75%) CCD chip
  • Ideal guide camera or planetary imager

The Starlight Xpress Ultrastar is a very high performance camera, that is not only well suited for guiding during long exposure astrophotography, but also as an imaging camera in its own right.

The camera utilises a Sony ICX825AL ExView 2 Monochrome CCD sensor that uses 6.45um square pixels in a 1392x1040 pixel array. The sensor has a very high quantum efficiency of ~75% peak, and has a larger surface area (70% larger than the Starlight Xpress Superstar camera), all of which means a larger field of view in which a suitable a fainter guide star can be chosen.
